2014-Oct-5 - 'Terrifying' flight home Sunday still on Browns' minds

'Terrifying' flight home Sunday still on Browns' minds

BEREA: Several Browns players were relieved Monday afternoon to be able to talk about the team safe arrival Sunday night at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport despite a rough landing in bad weather.

was terrifying, guard Jason Pinkston said. was the real thing. The weather was so bad. We were coming in to land and [the pilot] had to go kind of fast to balance it out. We came down and we hit on two wheels. The right wing was literally three feet from hitting the ground.

actually pretty lucky to be alive right now to be honest. Everything kind of paused for a while. You never really think you going to be in that situation to where you might have an emergency on a plane, but yesterday put things in perspective. You really got to be thankful for being alive, and it was that close. Browns (4 6) rushed out of Paul Brown Stadium on Nike NFL Jerseys Sunday evening following their 41 20 loss to the AFC North leading Cincinnati Bengals (7 4), so they could try to fly home from the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport before severe thunderstorms would prevent them from doing so. The team made contingency plans to take buses back to Northeast Ohio but opted to take its charter flight on United Airlines.

sure the conditions were stressful for our pilots, who did a phenomenal job, team spokesman Zak Gilbert said. important to note that neither our team nor United Airlines would given us clearance to depart if our safety was in jeopardy. The airport also gave us clearance to land. flight was short, but players said the descent into Cleveland was turbulent and the landing was frightening because the plane tilted to the left as it touched down.

cow I swear the wing was a couple feet from the ground, defensive end Billy Winn said. the last second, it was dead quiet right before the landing. We going to land, it got real quiet, and I heard this big gust of wind and [the plane tilted], came back and we recovered. We had a great pilot, a fantastic pilot. Bless his heart for getting here safely. said he thanked the pilot and shook his hand after the flight.

prayed the entire 45 minutes, Pinkston said. talked to the plane the entire way. I talked to some family members Cheap NFL Jerseys who have passed away, just to guide us.

really escaped one. We got away with one last night. When I went home, I got my daughter and held her for a good 30 minutes, just kissing her, telling her I love her. That how scary it was. That how close it was. end Jordan Cameron description wasn as dramatic.

was freaking out, Cameron said. didn think it was that bad. There was some turbulence, but it wasn too serious, at least I Wholesale Jerseys thought so. Some guys were calling their moms after the flight. players thought the landing was a closer call than others.

they said it wasn that bad, they lying to you, Winn said. was a little rough. rough?

was pretty bad, wide receiver Davone Bess said. we here today to talk about it and can thank the man upstairs. linebacker Brandon Magee declined to take the flight home in the stormy skies. He made the trip back on the highway with the team equipment crew.

Pinkston Nike NFL Jerseys sales said he wishes he would joined Magee.

people around the team and the coaches, we really realize how fortunate we are that it didn take a turn for the worse, Pinkston said. how close it was. review

After long snapper Christian Yount reviewed video of the game, he blamed himself for a misfired snap and Nike NFL Jerseys Wholesale a failure to pick up a stunt called a twist by the Bengals that led to Spencer Lanning punt being deflected by safety Shawn Williams and going 9 yards to the Browns 38 yard line.

snap wasn where it needed to be, so I sure that had some affect with the get off time, Yount said. the same time, if we pick up the [stunt], it not an issue. It was kind of a perfect storm. Browns later surrendered their first blocked punt since 1993 when Bengals linebacker Jayson DiManche blew past rookie outside linebacker Barkevious Mingo and running back Chris Ogbonnaya got to Lanning. Safety Tony Dye fell on the ball and return it 24 yards for a touchdown with 4:35 left in the second quarter.

Mingo blamed himself after the game, but Browns coach Rob Chudzinski said linebacker Eric Martin, who was lined up beside Mingo at right tackle, should have blocked DiManche.

Chudzinski conceded losing special teams captain and outside linebacker Quentin Groves to a season ending ankle injury has forced the Browns to shuffle players on the punt team. Groves played guard on that unit.

effect of losing Quentin is having to move guys around, but that no excuse, Chudzinski said. no excuse for getting punts blocked.

was very disappointing and unacceptable. We need to be better in that area. [Specials teams] has been a strength for us this season. And uncharacteristically we didn play well, and we had two major breakdowns there. We get that corrected. points

Starting inside linebacker Craig Robertson (sprained knee) and backup wide receiver Armanti Edwards (sprained ankle) were scheduled to undergo MRIs, Chudzinski said. Chudzinski said he trying to find out from the NFL why officials mistakenly spotted the ball at the 2 yard line when it should been at the 1 after Browns quarterback Jason Campbell threw an incomplete pass on second down with 4:20 left in the first quarter. Campbell then threw incomplete again on third down. Chudzinski elected to have Billy Cundiff kick a field goal because he said he wanted Wholesale Jerseys China to take the points with the weather expected to become a factor as the game progressed. But Chudzinski also said, [the ball] would have wholesale nfl jerseys been closer [to the goal line], I may have gone differently on that. Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bobby Rainey, who the Browns claimed off waivers Sept. 1 from the Baltimore Ravens and released last month, rushed for 163 yards on 30 carries (5.4 average) and scored three touchdowns Sunday. love to have him here, Chudzinski said. glad he doing well. Where we were at with the roster at the time, we were short on some other positions and just had to make some moves, particularly for some other positions and for some special teams considerations as well. On Oct. 18, the Browns waived Rainey, placed safety Josh Aubrey (ankle) on injured reserve and promoted wide receiver Tori Gurley and cornerback Julian Posey from their practice squad to the Nike NFL Jerseys Cheap active roster. They already had backup running back Fozzy Whittaker on the roster, so they chose him over Rainey.

Batey, 19, is a 6 foot, 205 pounder who switched from wide receiver to safety this spring. He helped Ensworth High School to consecutive Division II AA state championships in 2010 11. I'm tired of people blaming the girl in a case of rape. No girl asks to be raped. It doesn't matter what she's wearing or how intoxicated she is. This was not about her judgement but the boys' judgement. All four of them decided to rape her, to have sex with an unconscious girl. This is about a crime being committed. Stop talking about the girl's judgement in terms of being intoxicated or that it's just sex. She's a college student during the summer drinking with some football players. This is normal college behavior. What is not normal or acceptable is having non consensual sex. Frank Gore Womens Jersey That decision is Frank Gore Kids Jersey never okay. Sex is a personal, intimate decision and not being able to decide whether or not to engage in it is devastating. I'm a Vanderbilt female undergrad and I hear stories like this all the time. The only reason Vanderbilt is taking action this time is because there is video tape.

2014-Oct-5 - Alabama play for SEC West title

Alabama play for SEC West title

The winner of only the second Top 5 matchup in the Iron Bowl's 78 year history will play for the Southeastern Conference championship, and live on in the national title derby.

"Oh man, it's going to be a Aldon Smith Authentic Jersey battle," Crimson Tide receiver Kevin Norwood said.

If the SEC title game has been a national semifinal game during the league's seven year run of BCS champs, welcome to what could amount to the quarterfinals. Iron Bowl style.

The Tide (11 0, 7 0 SEC) remains the national front runner and is a 10.5 point favorite for this one. The Tigers (10 1, 6 1) have arguably been the season's biggest surprise, though unlike Alabama they'd likely still need either No. 2 Florida State or No. 3 Ohio State to lose.

Auburn has lost the past two Iron Bowls by a combined 91 14 and failed to produce an offensive touchdown in either game. Much has changed since coach Gus Malzahn's arrival.

"We've been fueled by doubt all season," Auburn tailback Tre Mason said. "A lot of guys are fired up and we like being the underdog."

It hasn't been an ideal position in this game historically. The highest ranked team has gone 42 10 in the Iron Bowl since 1955, but there have been precious few like this one.

The 1971 game pitted No. 3 Alabama versus No. Aldon Smith Womens Jersey 5 Auburn. The 1989 game was huge for Auburn fans as the first one played at Jordan Hare Stadium.

Perhaps this one will end up topping Anthony Davis Jersey them all. The Tigers Anthony Davis Kids Jersey haven't been under this kind of spotlight since the 2010 national championship season that helped give the state a string of four straight.

2014-Oct-5 - Seamless to Go Public Next Year

Seamless to Go Public Next Year

Seamless' management has had discussions about how, and when, it will go public, something that could happen in the latter part of 2014 or early 2015, according to several people familiar with the situation.

In Joe Staley Jersey 2012, Seamless independently generated about $85 million in revenue, which was an increase of about 60%. One source familiar with the financials pegged the combined entity's 2013 revenue at more than $200 million, with 40% annual growth. At a 20 times revenue multiple, the company's post IPO market cap could be between $3 billion and $5 billion.

In an e mail statement, a Seamless press officer said the company would not comment on speculation. "We are focused on company integration and have many options as we move forward as a combined organization," the official wrote.

Seamless for the uninitiated has become a virtual go to for young urban professionals, who often use the term in place of the long time descriptor covering the process of ordering food to be delivered at one's place of residence takeout. Now, it is common to hear customers say they're 'ordering Seamless,' regardless of the nationality or origin of the victuals at issue.

But it's not the individual consumer that serves as Seamless' primary revenue driver. The company has become a de facto caterer for law firms and financial services institutions, which order massive spreads to cover a floor's lunchtime needs.

In late 2012, GrubHub, then an independent company, reportedly hired Citigroup (C) for help with an initial public offering to be launched in 2013. By May of this year, however, Seamless and GrubHub had merged. Terms of the transaction were not publicized, but it was widely understood at the time that Seamless was the larger of the two entities.

And while Seamless' cash grab on the heels of Twitter's (TWTR) successful offering could seem like executives visualizing a peak market at which tech companies are able to boost the size and price of their deals en route to the Nasdaq or the New York Stock Exchange, the company's trajectory Jimmie Ward Authentic Jersey has been building to an IPO for some time.

For technology companies, the IPO market is white hot: Twitter's debut Thursday seemed to quash investor doubts about app centric technology 18 months after Facebook's launch disappointed investors. The night Twitter's shares priced, Nov. 6, The Wall Street Journal reported that Square, another startup that processes mobile and electronic payments, is gearing up for a 2014 IPO.

In a statement at the time of their merger, Seamless and GrubHub revealed their joint entity was booking revenue "well in excess of $100 million."

Sources said that for Seamless, the company is not champing at the bit one said the company "feels it has a long ramp to work with" before its debut and could go public in the second half of 2014, even in 2015. Those who watched the Seamless GrubHub deal closely noted that Matt Maloney, CEO of the latter which had already begun charting its course toward public markets wound up leading the company that bore the identity of the former. Jonathan Zabusky, CEO of Seamless before the deal, stayed on as president.

The combined companies have a large investor base. Origin Ventures, Leo Capital Holdings, Amicus Capital, Benchmark, DAG Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Greenspring Associates, Mesirow Financial and T. Rowe Price all backed GrubHub. Seamless investors include SeventySix Capital, Spectrum Equity and Stripes Group. Spectrum is said to be the largest shareholder, but with a minority position. Spectrum first became a backer of Seamless in 2011 after buying a stake from Aramark.

Because Aramark backed Seamless, it handed off shares Joe Staley Womens Jersey in the startup to its private equity investors after the spinout.

The Deal Pipeline reported earlier this year that Aramark is separately prepping an IPO of its own, its third. Thus, Warburg Pincus LLC, Thomas H. Lee Partners, CCMP Capital Advisors LLC and GS Capital Partners are also shareholders in the new entity, as well as the respective managements of each startup.

This accounting doesn't include any of the stockholders in startups the two companies bought sources could not provide specifics as to which deals were stock and which were cash. That group includes GrubHub bolt ons Dotmenu and FanGo, as well as investors in Osimo and Menupages, which were bought by Seamless.

With bigger players like Seamless and Yelp dominating the space, one prominent Silicon Jimmie Ward Kids Jersey Valley investor said he won't be eager to take on the titans any time soon: "There are a gazillion entrepreneurs going after this," he said. "We mostly stay out of this space."

2014-Oct-5 - Lagunitas expansion on track for December

Lagunitas expansion on track for December

After a breakneck few months building his new brew house in Chicago, Lagunitas founder Tony Magee says the major equipment is finally installed and the first test batches should begin in December.

Magee has been particularly busy because he and his team basically had to redesign the brewery on the fly over the last year, almost doubling the intended capacity because nationwide demand has surged so much. He had originally planned to open the Chicago facility producing about 150,000 barrels of beer per Anquan Boldin Jersey year, with a maximum capacity of about 750,000. Now he plans to open making 250,000 barrels in the first year with an eventual capacity of a whopping 1.7 million. For some perspective, the Petaluma brewery can churn out about Steve Johnson Womens Jersey 480,000 barrels every year, maybe 500,000 if they really push it hard.

The new plant is intended to supply the Midwest and East Coast, positioning the company for nationwide distribution and saving the expense and environmental effects of trucking all that beer all the way across the continent. But as the first equipment was being installed earlier this year, Magee realized that he was thinking too small, leading to his hasty up scaling.

didn want to build the wrong sized brewery, like I did in Petaluma, he said last week.

The company growth is indeed dizzying; production has more than doubled since 2011, from just 161,000 barrels (still pretty large by craft brewing standards), to around 480,000 or a little more now. That could land the companyamong the top three or four craft brewers in the country when the Brewers Association makes up its 2013 list; Lagunitas was 17 two Steve Johnson Youth Jersey years ago and 6 last year. Magee is now poised to challenge titans like Sierra Nevada Brewing in capacity. (But don forget that these numbers, huge as they seem, are dwarfed by the mass market brewers. Even the largest craft brewer in the country, Boston Beer Company, maker of Sam Adams, produces just a tiny puddle of beer every year compared with big boys like Budweiser. The Anheuser Busch plant in Fairfield, for example, produces more beer every year that Sam Adams and Sierra Nevada combined, and that just one of something like a dozen AB breweries in North America)

Tonysays he expects it to take about five years to ramp up the Chicago facility to full capacity, buthe has been known to underestimate how fast things will grow before, a fact that he cheerfully admits. He certainly planning for strong growth: he says he the company that his making his huge stainless steelfermenting tanks to deliver a new set every three months until he tells them to stop.

While the Chicago brewery willstart spitting out beer by late next month, it will probably be January sometime before you can actually drop by and hoist a pint. Amid all the hectic design and construction of the brew house, he said, he wasn able to turn his attention to doing the paperwork for the tap room; he only just getting around to that now, so the taproom will be at least Anquan Boldin Youth Jersey a month behind the plant itself.

With most of the work done in Chicago, Tony will be back in town next week as the headliner at the first ever conference on Sonoma County booming trade in craft beer, cider, and spirits.
